Julee Cruise, a singer, songwriter, and actress best known for her work with David Lynch and Angelo Badalamenti on Twin Peaks, passed away Thursday at 65 by suicide after a four-year battle with systemic lupus. Her husband, Edward Grinnan, first shared the news in a post to a Facebook fan group for the B-52s, with whom Cruise toured on and off throughout the ’90s. “For those of you who go back I thought you might want to know that I said goodby to my wife, Julee Cruise, today,” Grinnan wrote.

James Blake has dropped a new album created to help listeners drift off to sleep. Wind Down is available from today, May 23, and was created in conjunction with German software company Endel. The ambient album was created using Endel's A.I.

Clams Casino has shared details of a new project made in collaboration with Japanese pianist and producer Ryota Nozaki. The duo, Nozaki is also known as Jazztronik, will release Winter Flower Reimagined on March 11.

Baltimore sound and visual artist Amy Reid has taken the concept of the concept album quite literally. She recorded Dome Trax, a five-track EP full of aqueous synths that tingle the synapses, as the background music in a 25-foot-wide, 12-foot-high geodesic dome she built with fellow multimedia artist Johnny Rogers during a residency at Merriweather District in Columbia, Maryland.

Devonté Hynes has shared the opener and title track from his upcoming digital album, Passing (Music From and Inspired by the Original Motion Picture), out Saturday, November 10. Hynes scored Passing, a new Netflix feature based on a 1929 Nella Larson novella and directed by Rebecca Hall.

Ryuichi Sakamoto has announced that he has been diagnosed with rectal cancer. In a statement posted on his website, the beloved Japanese composer confirmed that a recent surgery was successful and that he's currently undergoing treatment.
