One of the most anticipated TV shows of 2024, which actually might land in 2025, we’ll see (the creator has contradicted himself a bit on the timeline, so let’s stay hopeful is FX’s “Alien” series. Created by Noah Hawley, also the creator of FX’s long-running “Fargo” series, many genre fans are chomping at the bit to learn every detail they can about the show.

While Ridley Scott’s “Prometheus” film series was basically killed off after its underperforming sequel, “Alien: Covenant,” clearly, 20 Century Studios believes the show must go on for the Alien/xenomorph franchise. And maybe it needs a cheaper cast to be cost-effective.

Believe it or not, the “Alien” franchise is more alive than ever before. Not according to TheWrap, with Hawley telling the outlet that show will air “somewhere in the in the first half of [2025],” given strike-related delays.

Sadly, the list of high-profile projects almost made by Neill Blomkamp is starting to rival the list of high-profile projects he’s actually made. At one point or another, Blomkamp was attached to films such as “Halo,” an “Alien” sequel, a “RoboCop” reboot, and more.

Yesterday, it was announced that actress Isabela Mercer (“Rosaline”) would be joining fellow rising star Cailee Spaeny (“Mare of Easttown”) in the next big “Alien” feature film that is being spearheaded by filmmaker Fede Álvarez (“The Evil Dead”) and frequent writing partner Rodo Sayagues with Ridley Scott producing via his production company Scott Free.

Back in November, Cailee Spaeny became the first name attached to Fede Alvarez‘s upcoming “Alien” movie.

It appears Sir Ridley Scott is almost as deadset on making more “Alien” films as James Cameron is in his “Avatar” sequels. No matter how negative or lukewarm the response to the prequel/reboot “Prometheus” and its sequel, “Alien: Covenant,” Scott is reportedly still developing a new film in the franchise, but it looks like it will be different from what fans would expect.
