According to the ONS, the price of food and non-alcoholic beverages has made a massive contribution to the rise of inflation.
The foods that have risen the most in price are:
Yoghurts
Bread and cereal as well as milk, cheese and eggs increased in price the most, contributing 0.04 percentage points to the rise in inflation last month.
Meats, vegetables and chocolate were also among the worst food types hit by soaring costs, contributing 0.03 percentage points to the inflation rise.
ONS chief economist Grant Fitzner said: "Food prices rose notably, particularly bakery products, dairy, meat and vegetables, which was also reflected in higher takeaway prices
"Price rises in other staple items, such as pet food, toilet rolls, toothbrushes and deodorants also pushed up inflation in July."
