But it is not just in midfield where new additions are required.
The Reds need to source a new striker to provide competition for Cristiano Ronaldo, whilst the addition of a centre-back is also set to be towards the top of Ten Hag's wish list. Furthermore, the club may also set about looking to strengthen their full-back options, particularly on the right side of the defence, with both Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot having struggled to make the right-back berth their own this season.
With Ten Hag's arrival at Old Trafford fairly imminent, speculation about who he could look to bring in this summer is already rife. But the Manchester Evening News understands that United have revived legitimate interest in Villarreal centre-back Pau Torres.
