'Strong possibility' - Update emerges ahead of Bolton Wanderers' League One trip to Portsmouth

Bolton Wanderers have confirmed there is a ''strong possibility' the club's upcoming away clash against Portsmouth could be called off due to international call-ups.
Wanderers are set to head to Fratton Park to take on Pompey on Saturday, September 24. It falls during the international break when action in the Premier League and the Championship is put on the back burner.
Games in League One and League Two usually continue, but are not immune to being postponed too because of international call-ups. Wanderers have now issued and update and suggested that could be the case with this fixture.

Typically, a total of three players need to be called up to request a game to be postponed. Wanderers have the likes of Dion Charles and Conor Bradley in their ranks for Northern Ireland, Iceland's Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, Sierra Leone's Amadou Bakayoko, and James Trafford of England under-21s.
Though not confirmed yet, Wanderers have issued a statement saying there is a 'strong possibility' the game could be postponed due to call-ups. The picture will become clearer when international squads are announced in the coming fortnight or so.
The statement read: "Wanderers are scheduled to play Portsmouth in a League One fixture at Fratton Park on Saturday, 24 September. However, as the game coincides with an international date, there is a strong possibility the fixture may be postponed.
"Wanderers currently expect the number of international call-ups within their squad to reach the three required to request a postponement under EFL rules. A number of Portsmouth players have also already received provisional, but not confirmed, call-ups.
