John Whaite has been turning down big-money offers to protect his mental health. The former Bake Off champ has had plenty of lucrative offers since his stint on Strictly. But, unlike many celebs, he is being careful about how much work he takes on.John told me: "After I did Bake Off in 2012, I had a lot of ups and downs."So I had to work hard to get to a place where I was comfortable in my life.

Since then I’ve always said that this life is the one I’m meant to have."Because of Strictly, loads of offers have come in."But I am being careful about what I pick."I’m being careful about what I say ‘Yes’ to, because I like my life and don’t want it to change too much."Good on John for putting his welfare first.Plenty of celebrities push themselves too far by doing every job they’re offered and end up burning out.

But John, who made it to the Strictly final with pro dancer Johannes Radebe, isn’t in limbo. He is still a regular on daytime show Steph’s Packed Lunch, and said: "I have got some amazing stuff in the pipeline."Lifelong aspirations are coming true, which is amazing."John previously told Daily Star how he has adjusted to life after his stint on Strictly. He explained: "I went to Scotland after Strictly to live in a little cabin and get away from it all and I cried every day I was that depressed.""It’s been bizarre really because I feel like I haven’t been able to put my feet back on the ground yet."We finished the tour and I've just been trying to work out where life’s gonna take me in the near future."It’s been really exciting but equally I'm pining for Strictly and my friends from Strictly.
