Gorka, 32, and Helen, 39, performed an incredible Paso Doble which saw them win huge praise from judges Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Craig Revel Horwood. After receiving their scores, host Claudia Winkleman began chatting to the pair and Gorka soon asked if she could quickly say something to his partner.

Former Strictly Come Dancing professional James Jordan has branded Helen Skelton and Gorka Márquez the “perfect couple”.Taking to Twitter to give his annual weekly verdict on the performances, James, who was a pro on the show from 2006 to 2013, said the pair were “amazing”.The 44 year old wrote on Twitter: “Helen. You clever boy Gorka. Clearly the best of the night so far and for week 1 amazing.
Perfect couple - beautiful costumes - loved the musicality – wonderful. "Just needs a little more light and shade and maybe softness of her spine. Didn’t expect that BUT WONDERFUL #8”.
And James’ followers agreed that the pair make quite the match, with one writing: “I was absolutely delighted by the chemistry.” A second added: “This partnership will go far”. A third wrote: “She needs this after such a dreadful time”. Presenter Helen, 39, recently split from her rugby player husband Richie Myler, with the Leeds Rhino star going on to date the daughter of the club’s president Stephanie Thirkill soon after.
Helen and Richie, 32, share three children together – Ernie, seven, Louis, five, and daughter Elsie, who she welcomed in December 2021.They split four months later. Meanwhile, Gorka is engaged to actress Gemma Atkinson, who he met whilst taking part in the BBC One dancing show, and the pair are parents to daughter Mia, three.
