Paralympic swimmer Ellie Simmonds is part of an exciting lineup on this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing. Off the dance floor, Ellie is an incredibly talented swimmer and won two gold medals for Team GB at the Beijing 2008 Paralympics - when she was just 13 years old. Last year during the Tokyo Olympics, Ellie announced her retirement from the world of swimming which gave her much time to spend in her lovely home.
She often shares a peek into her home when posting snaps on Instagram, and the beautiful pad is decorated with a super cosy aesthetic. Her walls are a neutral white colour and she has made sure the carpet matches the theme. For Christmas, she joyfully ditches the neutrals though, and decorates a stunning, brightly-coloured tree.
Ellie’s living room is a homely place with blue and white marble themed walls and a patterned sofa with floral print against it. Ellie’s kitchen is sleek and sophisticated featuring plenty of modern gadgets. The white furniture compliments the flooring and Ellie added a splash of colour with her green curtains. In another part of the kitchen she has a comfortable black leather armchair and dotted around her breakfast counter are grey stools.
Ellie bagged a whopping 15 more medals before retiring and has even been honoured with an OBE at Buckingham Palace. When she retired she gave an emotional speech and said: “I think that is my last competition. To go to four Paralympic games, including a home game and to come away with eight Paralympic medals and being part of that Paralympic movement as well," she said. "So I think for me, yes, this is going to be my last, but I will go home and evaluate.” Ellie continued: "I'm not just saying that because I'm gutted or anything like that.
