Adam Peaty has broken his social media silence since announcing his split from girlfriend of three years Eiri Munro.The 27-year-old Olympic swimmer and former Strictly Come Dancing star shared a cryptic social media post about "space". It was his first post since confirming he and artist Eiri, 24, who have a son together, had decided to go their separate ways.
It comes after Adam apologised to his now-ex and their son George, who turns two in September for "letting them down." In a lengthy statement on Instagram on Tuesday he wrote: "We have enjoyed a wonderful three years together, 2 of those with our gorgeous son George. Our priority has always been to provide the happiest and healthiest home environment for him, and right now that means ending our romantic relationship.
"I could not ask for a greater mother for George and I am so grateful to Eiri for her amazing support over the last three years." He added "My only interest is for the well-being of our family at this difficult time so I ask that our privacy is respected and I won’t be saying anything further." Following the shock announcement, Adam has now shared a photo of himself on a bike ride simply captioned: "Space". The three-time Olympic gold medallist is the latest victim of the so-called Strictly curse, joining a long line of celebs whose relationships have ended after appearing on the BBC One dance competition.
Adam and professional dance partner Katya Jones set tongues wagging on the show last year when they appeared to almost kiss at the end of a steamy Argentine tango routine. But Adam's brother Simon has claimed the relationship ending had nothing to do with Strictly.
