Strictly Come Dancing fans have branded judge Shirley Ballas "sexist" and have called for her to be sacked from the hit BBC show.The 62 year old panellist, who recently called for "respect" after receiving hurtful messages during live shows, has been accused of favouring male celebrity dancers to women on the programme. Fans of the dance competition went into a frenzy on Sunday 9 October night's segment after she backed Richie Anderson, 34, and his pro partner Giovanni Pernice, 32, who were eliminated after a dance off with Fleur East, 34, and Vito Coppola, 30. While fellow judges Craig Revel Horwood, 57, Anton Du Beke, 56, and Motsi Mabuse, 41, chose to save Fleur and Vito, Shirley said: "Well with the two couples the public put in the bottom two I would have saved Richie and Giovanni.” Host Tess Daly, 53, then pointed out that it "of course makes no difference to the results," but fans were left fuming over the ordeal and called for Shirley to be booted off the show.

Strictly Come Dancing is back and one of its new celebrity stars has had fans of the show talking about more than just his new dance partner. As actor Will Mellor, 46, best known for his role as Gaz Wilkinson in the hit show Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, sat down with Strictly host Claudia Winkleman, as he spoke about his new dance partner Nancy Xu. Viewers were zoning in on a little more than his dance partner, though, as his "snug" trousers had people taking to Twitter to comment.
One wrote: "Will certainly can fill out a pair of trousers...ahem. #strictly" Another tweeted: "Will Mellor's trousers look a bit snug... #Strictly".
Will was the first celebrity to be confirmed for the 2022 series. During an episode of BBC Breakfast, presenters Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt welcomed Will to the studio and announced that he would be donning some sequins and putting on his dancing shoes as he gets ready to hit the dancefloor. Speaking of the announcement, Will said: “I’m honestly so chuffed to be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this year! Not going to lie, it’s totally out of my comfort zone and I know it will be a huge challenge but that’s what life is all about.
“This is also my Mum’s favourite show and she’s had a really tough few years so I’m doing this for her as well. Bring it on!” While Will may be best known for playing Gaz in the noughties sitcom Two Pints of Lager and A Packet of Crisps, viewers may also know the actor from his roles in shows including Line of Duty, Broadchurch and Hollyoaks. In a clip from tonight's show, Will was back in Runcorn, Cheshire, where he spent ten years filming his biggest show.
