Stephen Fry has shared a eureka moment with regard to one often ignored little symbol on a car dashboard.
You may have refilled your car a thousand times, but then turned into a petrol station forecourt only to suddenly forget what side the petrol cap is on.
It turns out the arrow on the petrol gauge symbol is purposefully placed on the side your petrol cap is located - a helpful hint when your mind suddenly draws a blank.
It led to the comedian breathlessly tweeting about the realisation in a way only Stephen Fry can.
"Well, simmer me in prune juice and call me Daisy," he began.
"I never knew till now that you can tell which side of a car the filler cap is on by a little arrow next to the petrol pump icon. 64 years on the planet shrouded in ignorance. My life is changed forever."
He included a picture of his dashboard to show off the 'hidden feature' to his huge audience of 12.4million followers.
The viral tweet, which was posted on Thursday, has attracted 952 retweets and over 29,300 likes so far.
His legion of followers joined in to give their two cents.
One wrote: "I only learnt that in last few years too. Although, I still get confused - does the arrow mean your car needs to be to the left of the pump, or that your filler cap is on the left - as I am pulling into the petrol station I forget and panic!"
"Runs to check car...." another reported.
"In some cars it is the side of the car that has the hose on the pump image," one Twitter user noted.
A third tweeted, adding 'thinking' and laughing emojis: "Haha I also found this out a few months ago at the age of 47 but I feel much ore at ease with this now with the information Mr Fry who I think is fantastic on many levels also didn't know…wonder if there is anything I do know

A wealth of famous faces have visited Buckingham Palace over the years, but a handful of stars have also behaved very cheekily while there. From stealing loo rolls to doing drugs, multiple celebrities have taken more than a few liberties during their visits to the iconic royal palace, in central London.
Cheeky comedian Lee Mack wasted no time in using the Queen's Platinum Jubilee as an opportunity to stick the knife in Boris Johnson – metaphorically of course. The northern comic, 53, opened the concert, which is being held outside the gates of Buckingham Palace, by making light of the so-called 'partygate' affair in Downing Street. Speaking with the Prime Minister in attendance, who was in the royal box, Mack said: "Finally we can say the words ‘party’ and ‘gate’ and it’s a positive." The joke drew cheers and laughs from the crowd. The embarrassing quip comes just a day after the PM was booed outside St Paul's Cathedral as he attended the Thanksgiving service with members of the Royal Family.
Prince Charles and his son Prince William will pay tribute to the Queen on Saturday night during special concert as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The senior royals will enter the stage towards the end of the concert, which is being held outside Buckingham Palace. Members of the public will be able to attend if they were among the lucky few to grab a ticket but if you missed out then worry not as the BBC will be screening the whole event.
