‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse: Part One’ Bumped to Summer 2023, ‘Part 2’ Dated for March 2024

Odeya Rush, a star known for “Lady Bird” and “Cha Cha Real Smooth,” will star in a drama called “Dangerous Waters” set during a sailing holiday that spirals out of control. John Barr (“Blood and Money”) is directing the film that will also star Eric Dane, Saffron Burrows and Ray Liotta.

Executive producers are Capstone Global’s Christian Mercuri and Signature’s Sarah Gabriel and Gareth Williams, as well as co-producers Brianna Johnson and Ben Jacques.Capstone Global will handle worldwide sales and introduce the film to buyers in Cannes later this month.

The journey from Sam Raimi‘s never-made “Spider-Man 4” to Marvel‘s “Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness” has been an interesting one, as the genre director seemed keen to keep making “Spider-Man” movies despite the poor reception of 2008’s “Spider-Man 3.” Raimi is now giving a little more insight into how things ultimately unraveled and why the headaches of “Spider-Man 3” was a contributing factor.

Some of the films receiving new release dates include the Vampire thriller Day Shift starring Jamie Foxx, which is set to bow on August 12, the Kevin Hart-Mark Wahlberg comedy Me Time, bowing on Aug. 26 and the Dakota Johnson drama Persuasion, bowing July 15.  The streamer also confirmed dates of some highly-anticipated films that had previously been announced like the Adam Sandler sports pic Hustle, which bows on June 8, the Chris Hemsworth-Miles Teller Thriller Spiderhead, which bows on June 17 and most recently the The Russo Brothers next film The Gray Man, starring Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans, which will premiere on July 22.

Barbie, Warner Bros.’ Greta Gerwig-directed Mattel movie, will hit theaters July 21, 2023, the studio said today during its CinemaCon session in Las Vegas. The pic will take over the date previously occupied by Warners’ hybrid live-action/animation title, Coyote vs. Acme.

It was just announced that Sony is moving forward with Tom Hardy‘s “Venom 3” as the studio continues to flesh out their spinoff universe featuring “Spider-Man” villains and cohorts. The Sony-Verse is now looking to add even more obscure comic book characters than they have previously, which is quite the feat.

CinemaCon, the annual trade show for theater owners, is a good time for studios to flex their wares and Sony Pictures did that last night at the annual exhibition in Vegas. First up, there were some minor modifications to the two “Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse” sequels.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” into a critical and commercial smash, the filmmakers hyped up a crowd of movie theater owners by showing an exclusive look at the first 15 minutes of the follow-up “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.” Lord and Miller also announced the next installment, previously denoted as “Part II,” will be titled “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.”Sony Pictures chairman Tom Rothman introduced Lord and Miller, touting their animated films as a “singularly innovative franchise.” Before unveiling the never-before-seen footage of “Across the Spider-Verse,” which continues the story of Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore), Lord and Miller teased some details about the sequel, which takes place in six universes. (The original only transpired in a measly one universe). They’re also upping the body count.
