The son of a man found dead in a Glasgow flat has paid tribute, saying his dad had a 'heart of gold'. Gavin Mclean died at the property in Aberfoyle Street, Haghill, at 3am on Tuesday, December 20.
Police Scotland cordoned off Irongray Street to Aberdour Street while an investigation was carried out into his death. Forensic teams were called and a Police Scotland mobile wellbeing unit was also in attendance.
A 55-year-old man has since been charged with murder and appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Wednesday, 21 December, 2022. He made no plea and was remanded into custody. He will appear before the court again in eight days.
Speaking to Glasgow Live, Gavin's heartbroken son Jordan Leitch, and daughter Charlie, said the 44-year-old would be greatly missed by the whole family, including his two grandkids.
Jordan said: "He had a heart of gold and would’ve done anything for anyone, me and my sister and his two grandkids love him and are going to miss him so much. Rest in Peace, dad."
Other family members and friends have also paid tributes to the Gavin and described him as a 'good guy'. Jacqueline Boyle wrote: “My wee cuz, nobody will ever take your place. You were some boy. I will miss our wee talks x”
Laura Skinner added: “R.I.P Gavin ma big cuz. Still doesn’t feel real, love always.” Shelby Mann said: “RIP to my big cousin Gavin, you will be sorely missed. What a shocker.
"He was a good guy, a cheery dude. He will be missed.”
Authorities are continuing to make enquiries into the incident.
Detective Inspector Chris Thomson, of Police Scotland's Major Investigation Team said: "Our thoughts are with the man's family and friends at this difficult time and they are being provided with support by specialist officers.
