Soap fans fear as EastEnders goes head to head with Coronation Street and Emmerdale

Soap fans have aired their concern over the news that ITV shows Coronation Street and Emmerdale will likely go head to head with BBC One’s EastEnders in the TV schedules. It was recently announced that ITV are undergoing a huge schedule shake-up that will see both Corrie and Emmerdale going out in brand new time slots.
As part of the channel’s plans for ‘super soap’ weeknights, Emmerdale will air at a brand new time of 7.30pm, rather than 7pm, with an hour long-episode scheduled for Thursday evenings. Meanwhile, viewers will be able to get their Weatherfield fix during hour-long episodes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings at 8pm, instead of two hour-long episodes and a double bill on Fridays.

Now, dedicated soap fans have taken to social media to say they don’t want to choose between their favourite shows. One wrote: “Bit of a bummer for #EastEnders this.
It'll clash with either #Corrie or #Emmerdale constantly. I don't watch any of them live anyway but there's bound to be some people who like to watch all of them live and will now have to choose.” A second added: “Not itv changing the slots for emmerdale and corrie to clash w eastenders.” While a third said: “I am thinking about the Corrie & Emmerdale vs EastEnders soap clash more than I should be.” Others said it left them with a “nightmare” decision over which one to tune into live and which to record, as they said they
