Manchester United fans are unhappy with the current ownership of their club. The Glazer family purchased the team back in 2005 and since that time have been greeted with constant criticism and resistance to their premiership.
Protests have been common throughout their time in charge, but over the past few months, they have been increasingly more common. The 1958, a United fan group, have organised a number of marches against the Glazer ownership beginning before Norwich last season and they have continued during the 2022/23 campaign as well.
But if the Glazers were to sell the club, who would they sell it to? Sir Jim Ratcliffe finally broke his silence on his desire to buy the club on Tuesday.

Ratcliffe was born in Manchester and was a United fan during his younger years, but later in life he moved to London and founded the chemical company Ineos. This would make him a lot of money and in 2018, the Sunday Times would name him the richest man in the UK, with a net worth of £21.05billion.
As of today, Bloomberg has Ratcliffe's net worth at around £7.8bn, which could be due to his many investments.
Buying United wouldn't be Ratcliffe's first foray into sports. He bought the cycling team 'Team Sky' in 2019 and rebranded them 'Team Ineos'. His company is also one of the principal sponsors of the Mercedes AMG F1 team and New Zealand Rugby.
Ratcliffe also owns two other football teams, FC Laussane Sport in Switzerland and OCG Nice who play in Ligue 1 in France. So he has experience of running a football club, but if he was to buy United it is clear that they would become the flagship.
