‘Shazam!’s Zachary Levi Says Give DC Studios Chiefs A “F***ing Break” & Brushes Off Recasting Rumors

Yesterday, Variety published a piece about what plans DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran have for the DCU‘s immediate future. But this morning, Gunn took to Twitter to dismiss some of the publication’s claims, including the future of Wonder Woman and Ezra Miller staying on as The Flash.

Often, people (myself included) like to lump in all of the former wrestlers who have become actors into one category. It’s easy to write them off as muscly meatheads who star in terrible action films and give cringey performances.

OK, earlier today, you probably read from us that Courtney Love was fired from “Fight Club.” The rocker, singer, actress, and former member of grunge band Hole claims she had the lead role of Marla Singer in the David Fincher film (the part that Helen Bonham Carter played). But during this casting process, she apparently went “nuclear” on Brad Pitt for proposing he star in a Kurt Cobain film directed by Gus Van Sant, and then Pitt got her fired from the film (“I wouldn’t let Brad play Kurt,” Love said.

You’ve probably heard many of the legends around David Fincher’s “Fight Club,” which include casting. It’s been reported in the past that Fincher considered Winona Ryder Janeane Garofalo, and the studio really wanted Reese Witherspoon.

Henry Cavill announced his exit from The Witcher earlier this year when he confirmed his return as Superman on Black Adam, which ultimately ended up not panning out as new DC heads restructure the universe. However, Season 3 of the Netflix series has already been shot and showrunner Lauren Hissrich is teasing the upcoming season.

Zachary Levi is clearing claims from fans that he is being recast as Shazam! amid the DC Universe shakeup following Peter Safran and James Gunn taking over as co-heads.

Dwayne Johnson has taken to social to make it official that he’s heard from DC Studios co-head James Gunn and Black Adam won’t be a part of the first phase of DC’s new plans. “However, DC and Seven Bucks have agreed to continue exploring the most valuable ways Black Adam can be utilized in future DC multiverse chapters.”
