Serena Williams' 'Vogue' Cover Story Details the Potential End to Her Tennis Career & Wanting Another Child

Serena Williams is Vogue‘s September 2022 cover star, and she also wrote an essay in lieu of the traditional sit-down interview.
The 40-year-old tennis star wrote about tennis, when she may play her last match, and her desire to have another child. In particular, Serena notes she does not like the word “retirement,” and instead, focuses on her “evolution.”
She also noted that she and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, have been trying for another child. They share a five-year-old daughter, Olympia.

On balancing tennis and her family: “I never wanted to have to choose between tennis and a family. I don’t think it’s fair. If I were a guy, I wouldn’t be writing this because I’d be out there playing and winning while my wife was doing the physical labor of expanding our family. Maybe I’d be more of a Tom Brady if I had that opportunity. Don’t get me wrong: I love being a woman, and I loved every second of being pregnant with Olympia….
