Selome Hailu Marvel’s “Armor Wars,” originally planned as a TV series for Disney+, is being redeveloped as a feature film, Variety has learned. “Armor Wars” will star Don Cheadle, reprising his MCU role of James “Rhodey” Rhodes, a.k.a. War Machine. The project is based on the Marvel Comics series of the same name that follows Rhodes as he must face what happens when Tony Stark’s tech falls into the wrong hands. Beyond that, plot and casting details remain scarce, though comic book villains that could potentially appear include Stilt-Man, the Crimson Dynamo and Justin Hammer, who was played by Sam Rockwell in “Iron Man 2.” Yassir Lester, who was originally set as the series’ head writer, remains attached to write the project.

Saoirse Ronan will be starring in Steve McQueen‘s new movie!

Not counting “Small Axe,” his excellent anthology series, Steve McQueen hasn’t made a feature film since 2018’s “Widows.” Thankfully, that’s about to change. Deadline reports that McQueen’s next film is “Blitz,” a film about the Blitz of London in World War II, with Saoirse Ronan leading the ensemble cast.

Apple beat the competition for rights to the film in June. The shoot is expected to begin later this year.McQueen’s Lammas Park produces alongside Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title Films, and Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan, and Michael Schaefer from New Regency, with independent producer, Anita Overland.  “Blitz” was developed and packaged by New Regency under McQueen’s first look deal with the company; they previously collaborated on “12 Years a Slave” and 2018’s “Widows.”“Lady Bird,” “Little Women” and “Brooklyn” actress Ronan most recently starred in “See How They Run” opposite Sam Rockwell.

The Viola Davis-led action epic “ The Woman King ” easily conquered the North American box office in its first weekend in theaters, against a crowded market of new releases. The film, directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, surpassed expectations and earned $19 million in ticket sales, according to estimates from Sony on Sunday.

Brandon Michael Hall (“God Friended Me,” “Search Party”), Colton Ryan (“The Girl From Plainville,” “Dear Evan Hansen”), and Megan Suri (“Never Have I Ever,” “The Pisasch”) have all been cast in the show. As with past casting announcements for “Poker Face,” details on their characters are being kept under wraps. Hall is repped by Gersh, Viewpoint, and Felker Toczek. Ryan is repped by Gersh and Echo Lake Entertainment. Suri is repped by Entertainment 360.

When the first trailer for “See How They Run” appeared early this summer, a fair number of observers came to the same conclusion: Wes Anderson rip-off. It wasn’t hard to see; the ‘50s-set murder mystery seems to deliberately ape the Anderson aesthetic, from the meticulously detailed design work to the rich color palates to the striking and frequently symmetrical compositions, and it’s populated by a big, busy, impeccably attired ensemble cast that includes Anderson standby Adrien Brody and “Grand Budapest Hotel” co-star Saoirse Ronan.
