A Scots inmate threatened to kill his partner after she dumped him over a prison video call.
Brendan Carroll went ballistic after the woman ended their relationship, telling her: “I’ll slit your f***ing throat.”
The 29-year-old was serving a sentence in Edinburgh’s Saughton Prison when Chloe Anderson broke the bad news over the video link.
Carroll was later released from his jail term, but immediately returned behind bars when Chloe reported the threat to cops.
He appeared from custody at the city’s sheriff court on Monday and pled guilty to a charge of threatening or abusive behaviour.
Fiscal depute Zoe Nugent said Chloe arranged a “virtual visit” with Carroll on October 31.
Ms Nugent said: “During this visit they were talking and the complainer told the accused she did not want to see him anymore.”
The court heard angry Carroll, of Camelon, near Falkirk, made the threat and Chloe ended the video call.
Defence agent Gordon Stewart said the couple had now reconciled and Chloe had been visiting his client three times a week.
Mr Stewart said Carroll hadn’t received his medication in prison when the incident occurred, and that was compounded by his history of PTSD.
The solicitor added: “He accepts he made the comment and he was in the wrong for doing so.
“He did not intend to carry out the threat, but he accepts he caused fear and alarm.”
The court heard Carroll, who has two children from a previous relationship, was released from jail after his last sentence and immediately brought back into custody over this offence.
Sheriff John Cook deferred sentence on Carroll until next month for reports.
He told Carroll: “You have a really bad record for domestic offending.”
The sheriff released him on bail to live with his grandfather in
