A twisted Scots karting boss is behind bars after sexually abusing two young boys over a five year period on trips away to motor races. Andrew Fairley, who previously ran Larkhall-based Clan Racing Team, was sentenced to eight years in prison at Carlisle Crown Court on July 1.
The 58-year-old, who had been living in Musselburgh, East Lothian, admitted two counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child. The paedophile was also convicted of causing a child under 13 to watch an image of sexual activity, engaging in sexual communications with a child and sexual assault on a male.
Fairley also pled guilty to engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child and inciting a boy under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity. The offences related to incidents involving two boys which occurred between January 2006 and July 2011 in Rowrah, Cumbria.
Welcoming his jail sentence, Detective Sergeant Tom Windridge said: “Fairley used his position of trust to exploit his victims for his own fulfilment. Today’s result show that we are committed to protecting children from sexual abuse.
“Our specialist officers work together in partnership with support agencies across Cumbria to investigate and bring perpetrators of these horrific crimes before the courts. I encourage anyone who has concerns that a child might be a victim of online child sexual exploitation or abuse to contact us”
