A Scots couple have been left devastated by the loss of their stillborn baby girl - two years after their son was delivered stillborn.
Nicola Rose, 34, and Dale Evans, 30, from Bo'ness, Falkirk, were given the heartbreaking news that their baby, who they named Summer, no longer had a heartbeat.
Nicola was 23 weeks pregnant and had gone to hospital for a scan on March 4 following a routine check-in with her midwife.
Tragically it was found Summer had passed away.
Nicola was induced for labour and had to deliver her baby at St John's Hospital in Livingston on Tuesday March 8.
It is the second time Nicola and partner Dale have been struck by tragedy, after their baby son, named Cade, was delivered stillborn almost exactly two years ago.
The family now face a long wait for postmortem results as the cause of Summer's death has yet to be determined.
Sadly, because Summer was born before 24 weeks, her death is classed as a late miscarriage, which means the parents don't get a birth certificate.
They are also not entitled to a free funeral.
Nicola's cousin Wendy Baird has set up a fundraiser to help pay towards funeral costs, which has already collected almost £1,000.
The 48-year-old told Falkirk Live: "We are all totally devastated by this.
"Two lose a child is one thing, but to have no record of your child being born is another.
"It's very sad.
"Nicola has just been to the midwife the day before she lost Summer, and everything was fine.
"Summer's heartbeat was healthy, and all the scans showed up with no worries.
"That makes losing Summer even harder.
"I have set this up to help them both out - we're working class - and it's not easy. If I had the money, I'd pay for the funeral myself.
"They are both devastated. There are no words."
