The founder of a Vale charity - campaigning for a cure for her son’s rare condition - said she has become the victim of a smear campaign over a fundraising calendar.
Lisa French, who runs ROHHAD Association, says there has been a backlash over “empowering” body positive charity calendars - one featuring men and another featuring women. Scottish TikTok content creators developed the idea after taking the charity to their hearts and took part in a photoshoot wearing outfits, including swimwear and lingerie.
But a social media backlash, said to be from women who follow the charity from the US, has seen Lisa sent offensive messages and accused of sexualising the condition, she told the Lennox. Lisa said: “Sadly our charity has been attacked. My integrity has been questioned and so has the integrity of the charity.
“I’ve had a lot of personal messages calling me a slut, that I should be ashamed of myself and that I am sexualising a disease that kills children. There is a small minority of people in America telling others not to support our charity and not to donate funds. I am so disappointed that a small minority of people are doing this.”
The charity, which Lisa launched after her young son Aaron Hunter was diagnosed with ROHHAD, has raised more than £500,000 to find a cure. Defending the calendar, which she also features in, in an online video, the mum-of-two said: “Every one of us are normal everyday people. Some of us are fathers and mothers. We are all different shapes and sizes. We represent normal people.
“I was in that photography studio the whole day and it was empowering for the women who were there. The only motivation we had was making a difference and raising funds for these children. One of the ladies has a rare

Jem Aswad Senior Music Editor Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan selling their catalogs for $600 million, Genesis and Phil Collins for $300 million, Stevie Nicks for $100 million — over the past few years dozens of artists have sold the rights to their music catalogs for eight or nine figures. There are all kinds of reasons why this is happening: Artists are getting older and are basically estate planning, the pandemic proved that copyrights can be a great investment, and the booming market is bringing more and more buyers and sellers to the table. But what do you do with that catalog once you’ve bought it? The old approach was to basically to sit and wait for the songs to make money — through radio, sales, use in films or TV shows or advertising campaigns, Broadway shows and lots of other ways.

Adam B. Vary Senior Entertainment Writer Nikki Finke, a tenacious journalist who revolutionized entertainment reporting with what became the Hollywood trade website Deadline, died Sunday morning in Boca Raton, Flor. after a prolonged illness. She was 68. After spending the beginning of her career reporting on everything from Moscow (for the Associated Press) to Washington, D.C. (for Newsweek), in 2002, Finke started a column for L.A. Weekly called Deadline Hollywood, which she took online in March 2006 as Deadline Hollywood Daily in an effort to better cover up-to-the-minute news. Rather than focus on celebrity or content, Finke placed a singularly unforgiving spotlight on the studio executives and high-powered agents who make the industry run. She was unafraid to call out what she believed to be ill-conceived or substandard decision-making in the bluntest possible terms, and her take-no-prisoners approach made her site a must-read in a media ecosystem Finke saw as excessively fawning and credulous.

Gene Maddaus Senior Media Writer The Human Rights Campaign has agreed to accept a contribution from the Walt Disney Co., months after rejecting it at the height of the “Don’t Say Gay” controversy. The move comes as Disney continues to try to heal the damage done by its response to Florida’s Parental Rights in Education law, which restricts classroom instruction on LGBTQ identity. Disney initially declined to take a public position on the measure, leading to a major backlash among its employees. As the furor mounted, CEO Bob Chapek announced that the company would oppose the law and make a $5 million donation to HRC and other gay rights organizations. But HRC rejected the money, saying it first wanted to see the company “build on their public commitment” by working closely with LGBTQ organizations.
