EXCLUSIVE: Marcus Dunstan, the writer of Saw 3D and Saw VI, is set to direct the horror flick All My Friends Are Dead. Film Mode Entertainment and Roundtable Entertainment will launch sales on the project at the Toronto Film Festival.
Written by Josh Sims and Jessica Sarah Flaum, the flick follows a group of close college friends who get a steal on a killer Airbnb for the biggest music festival of the year. A weekend of partying quickly takes a turn for the worse, as the group is murdered one by one. They soon discover that each one of their deaths directly corresponds to one of the seven deadly sins.
Jade Pettyjohn whose list of credits includes Destroyer, Little Fires Everywhere, Trial By Fire, School of Rock, United States of Tara, and The Mentalist is in negotiations to star. Pettyjohn recently wrapped David E. Kelley’s drama series Big Sky. John Baldecchi (Happy Death Day, Happy Death Day 2U) is producing. Jason Resnick (Kidnap) and Kevin Greutert (SAW franchise) are executive producing.
Film Mode Entertainment is presenting the film to buyers in Toronto. The film has already locked deals in Germany and Benelux – Splendid, Middle East – Falcon, and Malaysia and Thailand – Film Frame.
“We’re excited to be working with this talented filmmaking team. Marcus is the ideal director to bring this awesome script to screen. His wit and love of cinema are going to bleed into his vision and the audiences are going to eat it up” said Clay Epstein, director of Film Mode Entertainment.
Kevin Greutert (Saw VI) was originally slated to direct the flick. Additional casting announcements are set to be made in the coming months. The film is set to start filming in Canada in November.

Based on an original screenplay by Richard T. Jones, Jeremy Loethen and Tim Olgetree, the film is directed by Anton Cropper and written by Zoe Marshall, Dan Gurewitch and David Young. LeBron James, Spencer Beighley, Jamal Henderson, Marsai Martin, Joshua Martin and Timothy Bourne produce, while Maverick Carter and Jamila Jordan-Theus serve as executive producers.

Costa, the co-creator of Movistar Plus+‘s most-binged series, “Arde Madrid.” Costa’s directorial debut, “Simple” world premiered earlier this week in San Sebastian as a Movistar Plus+ world premiere. Produced by Movistar Plus+ in collaboration with Destrucción y Salvación, “Simple” turns on four young women in their twenties and thirties, who have reached a milestone in their lives: Sharing an apartment as truly independent adults. The series follows the flat mates, all of whom have disabilities, as they navigate the pressures of adulthood and the absurd norms imposed on them by society.

Steven Spielberg’s “The Fabelmans” will close out the 2022 AFI Fest, the American Film Institute announced Tuesday. “The Fabelmans,” which has been touted as Spielberg’s most personal film to date, stars Michelle Williams, Paul Dano, Seth Rogen, Gabriel LaBelle and Judd Hirsch in a story inspired by Spielberg’s own childhood. The film follows the formative years of a young man as he discovers a shattering family secret, causing him to use movies as a means to help him see the truth about others and himself. The ensemble cast for “The Fabelmans” includes Jeannie Berlin, Julia Butters, Robin Bartlett and Keeley Karsten, with music by John Williams. Janusz Kaminski serves as cinematographer, and the film is edited by Michael Kahn and Sarah Broshar. Production design is helmed by Rick Carter, and the costume design is overseen by Mark Bridges.
