Speaking on Tuesday’s episode of Loose Women, mum-of-two Sarah spoke about dealing with the diagnosis, and admitted it was ‘triggering’ having ‘lost a friend last year at 33 to an aggressive cancer. ’She explained that her friend Faye, who died last year, was a ‘school mum friend’ who her children knew about, and it made her even more worried to tell her son and daughter.
Sarah shares Hunter, 10, and Autumn, nine, with husband Andy, and said she was worried the children would think she was ‘a goner’ when they heard the news. However she assured them that they would ‘cross those bridges when we come to them’ and for now she feels ‘lucky’ that the disease was caught early.
The presenter said people tend to ‘catastrophise,’ and is herself choosing to remain positive, asking: ‘Why worry about something that hasn’t happened?’She later added in the same interview: ‘I can’t cry into my gin when I’m stage one and some people are stage three, stage four, terminally diagnosed – that would be really unfair of me. ’Sarah urged anyone who had a mammogram coming up to ‘get checked and face whatever might come down the tracks head on,’ pointing out that had she put off her appointment she could have received a
