Having already conquered the world with the Spice Girls, 1998 saw music mogul Simon Fuller form a brand-new pop juggernaut.
In April of that year, S Club 7 exploded onto the scene via CBBC telly show Miami 7. A number 1 debut single, Bring It All Back, followed; with the group going on to score three more chart-topping singles, a Number 1 album and two shiny BRIT Awards.
Now, as the group tease a huge announcement coming Monday February 13 following a surprise appearance at the 2023 BRIT Awards, we can reveal Rachel Stevens, Hannah Spearritt, Bradley McIntosh, Jon Lee, Jo O’Meara, Paul Cattermole and Tina Barrett’s Official Top 20 biggest songs in the UK ever.
There ain’t no party like an S Club Party, after all.
But before we get into the full list, let’s take a look at the group’s Top 5.
The group’s fifth biggest song is school disco staple S Club Party. The lead track from their one-off TV special Back to the ‘50s, S Club Party instructed the ‘ghetto boys’ to ‘make some noise’ and coined the phrase ‘hoochie mama, show your nana.’ True lyricism.
With its iconic second verse introducing each member of the group (‘wanna see Bradley swing, wanna see Rachel do her thing?’), S Club Party has been steamed over 16 million times in the UK to date.
The Official single in support of BBC Children in Need 2000 gave the group their second Number 1 that same year. The track knocked Destiny’s Child’s Independent Women Pt I off the top spot, and has been streamed over 22.5 million times in the UK.
Never Had A Dream Come True remains S Club 7’s only hit in the US, and boasts the longest UK chart run of any of their singles (25 weeks, fact fans).
The theme song of Miami 7, Bring It All Back saw S Club debut at Number 1 on June 13
