Rylan Clark has detailed how his “almost step-parents”, Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, visited him during a particularly dark period following his split from husband, Dan Neal. Rylan’s new book, Ten: The Decade That Changed My Future, catalogues a series of events that would ultimately lead to hospitalisation. Rylan had woken up one day and decided to tell his boyfriend Dan that he had cheated “years ago.” But when dan subsequently left him, Rylan was distraught but acknowledged that he was the only one “who could physically dig my nails into that mud and try and pull myself up.” “I sat Mum down and told her I needed to be locked up,” Rylan admitted in the book.
“I said, ‘I can’t do it any more.’ I could see in her eyes that she couldn’t believe what was happening to her baby. He added: “She called my big brother Jamie and my managers and they arranged for me to go to a mental health hospital where they knew I would be well looked after. “ Mum Linda went one step further and arranged for close friends and colleagues Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford to visit her son at home.
Rylan was unaware of the visit and recalls the stark look on their faces. The 33 year old former X Factor contestant said Eamonn became very upset, the most upset Rylan had ever seen him. Eamonn’s support did not stop there, and the former This Morning host defended Rylan on Twitter after he was accused of faking “sickies” to get out of work. In a since-deleted tweet, one user wrote: "Never been a fan of @EamonnHolmes but sadly our TV and radio shows are loaded with presenters like him, who openly admit to having no talent or opinions and wonder why they're in their well-paid jobs.
