A new report is revealing that production on Rust will restart relatively soon.
According to Variety, the movie, which halted production last year after the on-set, fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, will be moving from New Mexico to another location.

The production will not resume in New Mexico, as there is still an ongoing criminal investigation of Halyna‘s death, and state workplace safety proceedings remain unresolved.
Melina Spadone, the attorney for Rust Movie Productions LLC, shared that California is a possibility for the movie to relocate. However, scouts are still looking for another possible location.
Earlier this month, it was reported that the production company had reached a settlement with Matthew Hutchins, the widower of Halyna, and in his statement, said that completing the film would be a way “to pay tribute to Halyna’s final work.”
It’s been almost a year since Halyna was shot while preparing a scene in a church with Alec Baldwin on October 21, 2021.
The tragic incident occurred when Alec unholstered a gun, which he had been told was “cold,” and it fired. The bullet passed through her body and lodged in the shoulder of director Joel Souza. She was airlifted to a hospital, where she died.
Joel will return to complete the film, and released from the hospital later that day.
Earlier this year, the production company was hit with a $137,000 fine for “willfully” violating safety measures.
In case you missed it, Alec opened up about changes to his life and career since the tragedy took place.
