If Meghan Markle and Prince Harry decide not to return to the UK, members of the Royal Family will "breathe a sigh of relief", an expert has said. Palace officials are currently gearing up to honour the late Prince Philip, who died in April 2021, in a Service of Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey in the spring.
Prince Harry, 37, is thought to be coming to the UK to show his support alongside Meghan, 40, and their kids Archie, two, and baby Lilibet, but he's currently in a police protection row which could stop him from returning. Now, editor in chief of Majesty Magazine, Ingrid Seward, has said she believes the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's absence from the tribute will prevent it from becoming the "Harry and Meghan show".

Ingrid told Fabulous magazine: "I think if they choose not to come then everyone will breathe a sigh of relief. "It is thanks-giving for Prince Philip and we don't want it turning into the Harry and Meghan show." Last week, Harry issued a "pre-protocol" letter to the Home Office suggesting his lawyers will seek judicial review if continued police security isn’t provided by the UK when he and his family are in the country and his lawyers made it clear he is happy to pay for it.
