A recent Robert Lewandowski admission about Pep Guardiola suggests Manchester City could face an uphill struggle in convincing Bernardo Silva to stay at the club rather than move to Barcelona.
Bernardo's future at City has become increasingly uncertain in recent weeks, with a spate of reports linking him with a move to the Camp Nou. Barca manager and former club legend Xavi is keen to add the 27-year-old midfielder to his squad, particularly if Frenkie de Jong ends up leaving for Manchester United or Chelsea.
Bernardo is reportedly open to a move, having asked to leave City in each of the last two summer windows. The pandemic-hit market and a lack of suitable offers meant he stayed put, and although the Portuguese star is much happier at the club now he is believed to still harbour ambitions of playing for Barcelona.

City and Guardiola's stance on Bernardo's future is the same as with all players – if Bernardo wants to leave then he can do so, provided that he attracts a suitable offer. In this particular case though, City would likely want to identify a replacement too.
Ahead of City's 2-0 defeat of West Ham on Sunday Guardiola admitted that Bernardo could leave, but made it clear he'd rather he stayed put.
"Sometimes for the club, sometimes for the players, sometimes for the agent, sometimes you have to divide our path," Guardiola said. "Especially the desire of the player is the most important thing. Of course I would love Bernardo to continue here, he is a special player for us. But I don’t know what is going to happen."
