Robbie Coltrane has raised £75,000 to help restore a famous Clyde-built steamship by selling personalised videos to fans from just £12 a go.
The Harry Potter star has been charging fans for “shout-out” messages on the celebrity video site Cameo to help fund the TS Queen Mary.
The historic vessel is under-going a £6 million restoration in Glasgow and Friends Of TS Queen Mary – the charity tasked with the project – has already raised more than £3.8 million.
Coltrane, who is patron of the charity, said he was inspired by the prospect of the ship sailing again.
The 72-year-old, who played Hagrid in the Potter franchise and starred in TV series Cracker, said he was delighted at the chance to be able to connect with fans on Cameo while raising cash for a good cause.
Coltrane, originally from Rutherglen in South Lanarkshire, said: “TS Queen Mary has always been my favourite Clyde steamer.
"She is an absolute beauty and I often refer to her as a pocket liner. I am inspired by the prospect of her sailing again and want to do my bit to make that a reality.
“When the opportunity arose to do Cameo, I was delighted – not only to be able to connect with my fans but also to raise money for my beautiful ship.
“I plan to redouble my efforts later this year as I want to help raise the money we need for her new engines – but only if I get to be the first person to switch them on.”
The actor charges £12 a message and fans can also book a 10 minute video call with the actor and up to 10 friends from £653.
Built in 1933, TS Queen Mary carried 13,000 passengers a week and was known as “Britain’s finest pleasure steamer.”
Spearheaded by Coltrane, the campaign to carry out repairs was launched in December 2015 after the actor was successful in

Margot Robbie had a stunning red carpet moment at the UK premiere of her new movie Amsterdam!
on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, Margot Robbie wore a cerulean (insert scene here) polka dot dress with a white collar that's a throwback in the most royal way.The puff around the shoulders, the micro-dots, the gold buttons, the fake pockets, the white lapel…the white lapel! The low-cut cleavage-baring neckline is very 2022, but with a few small adjustments and a slightly rounder shoe you get…And sure, is sitting down with Fallon to talk about a movie and was sitting down with Anwar Hussein to talk about, presumably, a different movie, but still! And I know, , people make Diana comparisons at the drop of a fascinator (that's royal for hat), but blue with polka dots is like, a thing with the women who marry into the Windsor line. Here's Di in the maternity version of this fit…And Kate Middleton has rocked similar patterns…many times! .

Margot Robbie had an interesting night on the final day of shooting her movie Amsterdam, which hits theaters in October.
Antonio Ferme editor There was a lingering feeling of ambiguity and anticipation on Sunday night at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, the site of 20th Century Studios’ worldwide premiere of David O. Russell’s “Amsterdam.” Russell has not released a new film in nearly seven years — his last feature was 2015’s “Joy” with Jennifer Lawrence. Given his various controversies and 2011 sexual assault allegation, it was unclear whether Hollywood would re-embrace the director with open arms. And then Drake walked out on stage. “This is just a real moment,” Drake said. “So I am here to introduce the extremely talented, very legendary, one of the most handsome men in Hollywood. He goes by the name of David O. Russell.”
David O. Russell is a filmmaker with an amazing track record of award-winning films.
Amsterdam, for ethereal Chanel, looking less doll-like and more angelic bridal in bright white. The look pairs a strapless, bandeau top with two tiers of floral lace skirt that should be giving me grandma's kitchen curtain vibes and yet somehow don't. The is very , but the double layers give it a slightly more modest touch than most of what we've been seeing on the red carpet lately.
The stars of Amsterdam are stepping out for the movie’s premiere!
