River Plate's director of football has claimed that there is no truth to the rumour regarding Edinson Cavani joining the club at the end of the season.
The Uruguayan's contract at Old Trafford expires at the end of the summer and following his injuries and increasing age, the 35-year-old is expected to leave the club. A move to South America was thought to be likely with River Plate looking to be a potential destination.
However, Enzo Francescoli has since rubbished the rumours entirely. He told Supermite: "I never spoke with Cavani. There were no negotiations at all."

In his Guardian column earlier this week, Fabrizio Romano also quashed any chances of Cavani joining the Argentine outfit. He claimed that the former PSG man was looking for opportunities in La Liga to continue his career.
Cavani has been struggling with a groin strain in recent weeks and has been missing from action. Ralf Rangnick did confirm that the United forward had been back in training ahead of the Manchester derby.
He told journalists: "Yeah, he has been back in training since yesterday. Today [Friday] was his second session.
"He looks good. I think he could at least be part of the group for Sunday."
