Former Manchester United centre-back Rio Ferdinand believes Jadon Sancho needs the support of left-back Tyrell Malacia to help become even more influential.
Ferdinand made the admission after watching Sancho net his second goal of the season in United's 1-0 win over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Thursday evening. The England international latched onto Marcus Rashford's pass, rounded goalkeeper Danny Ward and rolled home his second goal in three matches after 23 minutes.
It was enough to seal a third successive win for United, lifting them up to fifth in the Premier League table ahead of Sunday's clash with current table-toppers Arsenal. Erik ten Hag's men were excellent in the first-half and should have scored more than just one.

They were not as vibrant after the break, but they rarely looked like conceding against a dejected, low-on-confidence Leicester side. Sancho was a real bright spark in the first-half, once again starting on the left-flank.
The former Borussia Dortmund man has shown glimpses in his last few appearances of how impactful he could be in Ten Hag's system, with the Dutchman keen to deploy a quick and fluid front-three. However, Ferdinand believes Sancho needs the support of Malacia behind him to create a decoy when looking to run at opposing defenders.
"I think with Jadon, the team has to function for him to be able to perform," Ferdinand told BT Sport. "There are some players that, no matter what happens, they can go and do something that will change the game.
"I think Jadon needs his team to be functioning really well. He needs Malacia to be flying up and down the wing like [Achraf] Hakimi was at Dortmund, to create that decoy
