‘No Time To Die’ Shut Out From Best Picture Category, But Takes James Bond’s Oscar Noms Count To 18 Including Billie Eilish Best Song Nod

As the Oscars wrestle with grabbing a larger millennial audience, the dissing of tentpoles in the Best Picture category continues this year. In addition to AMPAS voters overlooking the sixth highest grossing movie ever at the global box office, Sony/Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home ($1.77 billion) for Best Picture, they also snubbed Daniel Craig’s swan song as James Bond in MGM/UAR/Eon’s No Time to Die in that slot as well.

Heather Small has revealed some of the behind-the-scenes secrets of The Masked Singer after having featured on the current series. Heather, 57, was the first to leave the show on New Year’s day, bringing her time as the iconic Chandelier to an end. While she was the first to leave, the British singer, known for songs like Moving On Up and Proud, said the programme is a guessing game more than it is a singing competition, and quipped that if it was the other way round, she’d have “had something to say" about being the first contestant to go.

‘Moonfall’ Review: Roland Emmerich Directs His Most Preposterous Spectacle Yet

Over the course of his almost four-decade career, Roland Emmerich is a filmmaker who has become synonymous with big-budget, CG-infused epics whose screenplays often challenge the laws of space and time. Few moviegoers who saw “The Day After Tomorrow,” “2012” or even “White House Down” thought they were anything more than overblown extravaganza and a nice escape from the monotony of the real world.

Sundance Review: Alan Cumming In Documentary ‘My Old School’

Most kids wouldn’t want to endure high school twice, although there are some who would no doubt prefer to remain there forever. Brandon Lee (no, not the late actor son of Bruce Lee) chose a third path by re-enrolling when he was 32 years old and getting away with it, at least for a while. How it all happened is whimsically recounted in My Old School, a clever, amusing and rather slight account of a Scottish misfit’s most irregular education. Or, as Woody Allen used to describe himself, it’s “thin but fun.”

Robert De Niro On Paolo Sorrentino Bringing Naples To Life In Coming-Of-Age Film ‘The Hand Of God’ – Guest Column

Editors note: When we think of Robert De Niro and Italy, it’s easiest to focus on the Sicilian town of Corleone, because of his Oscar-winning turn in The Godfather: Part II. But De Niro wanted to focus on Naples, which director Paolo Sorrentino brought to life in The Hand of God. De Niro was so moved, he wrote a guest column for Deadline on why the film touched him so dearly.

‘In the Forest’ Review: Yet Again, City Dwellers Seek Nature but Find Grief

Dennis Harvey Film CriticThings like drinking games and “RiffTrax” were invented for movies like “In the Forest,” which are very bad but need a little participatory help to become so-bad-they’re-good. This quasi-horror tale of bickering vacationers running afoul of disturbed locals strings together various well-worn clichés with a notable lack of suspense, plausibility and style, while excelling in the realm of characters behaving like complete idiots. Simultaneous with streaming-platforms release on Jan.
