RICHARD Madeley was "missing" from Good Morning Britain today after facing backlash while presenting last week. Guest host Richard was criticised by viewers for making a controversial comment about dentists. The 66-year-old was replaced by Ed Balls on today's show alongside Susanna Reid.
It followed Richard telling viewers that dentists in the NHS aren't willing to extract teeth. He told the Vice Chairman of the British Dental Association Eddie Crouch: “I’m a reporter, I report what I’m told. This wasn’t my personal opinion yesterday, it was what a veteran dentist had told me.

Richard also backed up his argument with a quote from the Vice Chairman’s in-house journal. It stated that recently graduated dentists were taught how to take teeth out but their confidence levels were low.
