Red Hot Chili Peppers to play intimate gig at New York’s Apollo Theater

The Red Hot Chili Peppers’ were awarded with the golden icon award at Sunday 28 August night's MTV VMA awards. On collecting their award, bassist Flea took the opportunity to dedicate it to the late drummer of the Foo Fighters, Taylor Hawkins.The 50 year old was tragically found dead in a hotel room in the north of Bogota, Colombia, where the band were set to play at a festival on Friday 25 March.

Harvey Weinstein has won the right to appeal his New York conviction for sex crimes, more than two years after the verdict.In February 2020, the former Hollywood producer was sentenced to 23 years in prison after being convicted for counts of rape and sexual assault. He was found guilty of committing a criminal sexual act in the first degree and third-degree rape.A lower court turned down his request for an appeal before today’s ruling granting the request (per NBC News).Weinstein’s attorney, Arthur Aidala, said that his client was grateful for the decision.

Court of Appeals announced Wednesday.Weinstein was convicted in 2020 of rape and sexual assault, and a lower court upheld that conviction in June. The Court of Appeals has granted Weinsten’s application, and the ruling on Wednesday from New York State of Appeals Chief Judge Janet DiFiore will clear the way for oral arguments to begin next year before the entire court, a court spokesman told NBC News.“I’m hopeful that this is the opportunity to finally prove my innocence,” Weinstein said in a Wednesday statement to The New York Post.Weinstein is currently serving a 23-year sentence for the 2020 conviction.

Harvey Weinstein was granted permission to take his appeal of his 2020 sex crime conviction to the State of New York Court of Appeals.  On Wednesday, New York's highest court agreed to hear the 70-year-old disgraced movie mogul's case after the appellate division, a lower court, upheld his conviction in June. Elvis Costello has unveiled details of a huge 10-night residency in New York next year.Costello revealed the plans for the residency while on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon and said the gigs would feature a changing setlist.“I’m gonna play a 10-night stand in New York City next February,” Costello explained on the show.“But here’s the thing – I’m going to print a list of 10 songs a night that’s gonna give you a clue to what the night’s gonna be like. And the other 10 songs that I might play are a secret.”He went on to say that fans will “never hear the same song twice” and that the setlists would add up to “200 songs [played] over 10 nights.”He also revealed that for fans wanting to go to all 10 nights of the residency, a “special price” would be set.The residency will take place at Gramercy Theatre in February 2023.
