Rebekah Vardy’s pal Nicola McLean says ‘sad’ Wagatha court case ‘took toll’ on everyone’s mental health

Nicola McLean has spoken out on how the Wagatha Christie court case affected the mental health of everyone involved, explaining that the whole situation is "really sad". Rebekah Vardy, 40, who is married to Leicester City ace Jamie Vardy, 35, lost her libel trial against fellow WAG Coleen Rooney, 36, with Mrs Justice Karen Steyn delivering the verdict on 29 July. Coleen, wife of former Manchester United footballer Wayne Rooney, 36, accused Rebekah of leaking false stories about her to the press back in 2019 – Rebekah has continued to deny the allegations.
Now, glamour model Nicola, 40, has opened up on the trial and how it's impacted her friend as she told OK! magazine she's "glad it's over for everyone". Speaking at The Cabins star Bertie Garratt's launch event for his new clothing brand WHSKY, Nicola said: "Hopefully [they'll] just move on because it's just taken a toll on so many people's mental health. It's just been really sad." Blonde beauty Nicola said she's been supporting and speaking to Rebekah throughout everything as a friend, but insisted she has "no problem" with Coleen.
"I'm not completely taking sides, it's just that Rebekah is my friend. I think both of them deserved their day in court, they both wanted their truth. It's gone in Coleen's favour.
But they've had their day in court," she told us. Nicola, who recently said the Wagatha Christie trial had "strengthened" Rebekah's relationship with her husband, added: "It's not gone in Becky's favour, so whatever she chooses to do is up to her.
