A rap star has been stabbed to death at a Jubilee Bank Holiday party. Lamar Jackson, known as Hypo, the former boyfriend of singer Emeli Sandé, had filmed himself on Instagram arriving at the event shortly before he died.
The 39-year-old was killed at an event at Woodford Green in East London, MyLondon reports. He died at the scene just after midnight today after being attacked in front of a large group of people.
From Hackney, he had earlier posted footage of himself dancing in a marquee with others early at the event at Ashton Town Playing Fields in Chigwell Road. He dated the pop star Emeli Sandé for about a year before they split up in 2017.
His death is being treated as murder by Scotland Yard, with an investigation being led by detectives from the Specialist Crime Command. No arrests have yet been made.
A statement from the Metropolitan Police said: "Police were called at about 00:10hrs on Friday, 3 June to reports of a fight at a venue on Chigwell Road. Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and found a man, believed aged in his 30s, suffering from stab injuries. Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene
"Although we await formal identification, the deceased is believed to be 39-year-old Lamar Jackson of Hackney. Mr Jackson’s family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. A post-mortem examination will be held in due course."
Detective Chief Inspector Laurence Smith, said: “This man was attacked at a party and we know that a large number of people would have been in attendance. I would urge anyone who is yet to speak with us to come forward and let us know what you saw.
