Manchester United defender Raphael Varane has sent a message of congratulations the way of 2022 Ballon d'Or winner Karim Benzema.
The Real Madrid forward collected the prize after enjoying a stellar year at both individual and team level, claiming both the La Liga title and the UEFA Champions League during the 21/22 campaign. The 34-year-old also scored a whopping 44 goals in 46 appearances in all competitions.
Having won four European titles alongside current Reds defender Raphael Varane, his French compatriot was quick to send a message of congrats the way of Benzema, after claiming the award for the first time in his career.

Taking to social media shortly after the prize was announced, Varane wrote on Instagram: '‘Congratulations my bro! You deserve it. What a player!’'
Scoring 15 times in just 12 appearances as Los Blancos triumphed over Liverpool in last year's final in Paris, Benzema was influential to the team's success, eliminating Chelsea, Man City and PSG on the way to European glory.
Presented the award by former manager Zinedine Zidane, Benzema emphasised his desire to continue his form long into his thirties. ‘'People play until their later years now and I still have this burning desire,'' he began. ''It is this drive that has kept me going and never allowed me to let up. It kept this dream alive and was the fire behind me. I just want to make the most if it.’'
