Ralf Rangnick insists Paul Pogba will be highly motivated to play for Manchester United again 'even if it's only to show enough for a new contract elsewhere'.
Pogba, 28, is out of contract in June and is widely expected to leave United on a free 10 years on from running down his first contract with the club in 2012.
The France international was offered to Manchester City in January 2018 and Pogba's agent Mino Raiola was 'sorry' he failed to engineer a transfer in the summer of 2019.
Pogba is understood to have no inclination to commit his future to United, trophyless since 2017, and in danger of failing to qualify for the Champions League for the fourth time in the last nine seasons.
Rangnick was asked whether it was worth reintegrating Pogba into the United team amid the expectation he will leave and suggested Pogba could put himself in the shop window in the run-in to the season. Pogba could make his comeback from a thigh injury against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup on February 4.
The interim United manager erred by claiming Nemanja Matic's contract expires in the summer when the Serb is tied to United until 2023.
