The Queen’s granddaughter Lady Louise Windsor is to attend St Andrews University to study English after receiving her A-level results, Buckingham Palace said. Lady Louise, 18, received her results today, Thursday 18 August, along with the rest of A-level students across the nation.
A spokesperson for the Palace has confirmed the Royal's next move in education, following the results. They stated: "Having received her A Level results today, Lady Louise will start at St Andrews University in September to study English." The daughter of the Earl and Countess of Wessex is due to begin her degree course in September.
She follows in the footsteps of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who both went to the university in Fife where they first met, with Kate studying history of art, and William geography. Lady Louise studied for her A-levels at a private school in Ascot.
She follows other royal family members who went attended university aside from William and Kate, including Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. The news of Lady Louise’s move to university comes after her close relationship with her great-grandmother the Queen was revealed ahead of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. This was showcased as the youngest granddaughter of the monarch had the honour of driving a carriage at the Royal Horse Show event, held for the Queen.
Lady Louise’s mother Sophie, Countess of Wessex previously spoke about her hopes for her daughter to go to university, as she said: "I wouldn’t force her, but if she wants to. She’s quite clever." In an interview last year, the countess opened up more about her relationship with her daughter, as she revealed that she and her husband Prince Edward are “protective” of her, though she understands that
