Queen Elizabeth is said to have given her blessing to royal dresser Angela Kelly to give a rare insight into the monarch after 70 years on the throne. Angela has been a royal aide to Her Majesty for almost 30 years, and is expected to release her book next month – which will be an update of her 2019 book The Other Side of the Coin – ahead of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Katya Shipster from publisher Harper Collins said: "We are so proud to be Angela Kelly's publishers. We wanted to commemorate the extraordinary occasion of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee with this beautiful new edition, as well as bring the book right up to date following the unprecedented events of the past two years." "It tells the story of the Royal bubble as well as the lengths Angela and the Royal Household went to, to ensure the safety of our monarch. There is no better look at what goes on behind the pomp and circumstance than this wonderful book," she went on.The new edition of the book will cover the royal households over lockdown, Prince Philip’s funeral, and the Queen's first public engagement post-lockdown, and comes as Prince Harry prepares to release his tell-all biography. The update will also feature new photographs.
It’s believed that Angela is the first member of the royal staff to be given this kind of permission from the monarch to release a book. Her updated book comes after she allegedly clashed with Prince Harry over what tiara Meghan Markle wore on her wedding day to the royal.
