Queen and Prince Charles 'could provide homes' for Ukrainian refugees

Prince Charles was pictured offering a gentlemanly greeting to Queen Letizia of Spain as the pair carried out a joint public engagement in Country Durham on Tuesday.The 72 year old appeared in happy spirits as he greeted the Spanish royal, giving Queen Letizia a kiss on the cheek before squeezing her hand fondly during their arrival at Auckland Castle in Bishop Auckland. Queen Letizia was among the foreign royals along at Prince Philip ’s memorial service last week and reunited with the Prince of Wales again today.

Today almost 2000 special guests have gathered at Westminster Abbey to remember Prince Philip. After his funeral was restricted by Covid-19 laws in place last year – which left Her Majesty, 95, sat alone – those who were unable to attend have come together to pay their respects. The day marked the first public outing by Prince Andrew since he settled out of court with Virginia Giuffre, after being accused of sexual assault – which he has denied.

On the climax of Kate Middleton and Prince William‘s visit to Jamaica as part of Queen Elizabeth II’s platinum jubilee, the British royals dipped into the past. Prince William, 39, and Kate, 40, attended a special military parade for service members who recently completed the Caribbean Military Academy’s Officer Training Program. Prince William and Kate dressed in white for the occasion, with the Duke of Cambridge donning his formal military uniform. Together, they stood on the back of a dark green open-top Land Rover – the spitting image of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip when they visited Kingston, Jamaica, in November 1953.

William went for a traditional look in a black tuxedo. Amid ongoing protests surrounding the royals' visit and outspoken coalitions seeking to make Jamaica a republic and to remove the queen as the head of state, William gave a speech at the dinner, condemning Britain's role in slavery in Jamaica. «I strongly agree with my father, The Prince of Wales, who said in Barbados last year that the appalling atrocity of slavery forever stains our history,» William said of his father, Prince Charles.

Prince Andrew is planning to attend the memorial service for his late father Prince Philip.The Duke of York, 62, is expected to appear at the service at Westminster Abbey honouring his late father on 29 March.The service will celebrate the life of the late Duke of Edinburgh, who died last April at the age of 99. A spokesperson for the Prince confirmed the news that he will be present at the memorial service to the BBC .

Prince Harry's attendance at the Queen's Jubilee celebrations later this year have been called into question, after he revealed he won't be flying to the UK for Prince Philip's memorial.The Duke of Sussex was expected to fly from the US to the UK to take part in the celebrations for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations this year. Though Queen Elizabeth, 95, recently battled COVID-19, Buckingham Palace announced on Friday (Mar. 11) that she would not attend the service due to mobility issues, per The Mirror.

Prince William and Prince Charles will be "disappointed" by Harry's decision not to attend Philip's memorial service, a royal expert has said.The Duke of Sussex's spokesperson announced at the end of last week that he will not be flying to the UK for the thanksgiving service at Westminster Abbey on Tuesday 29 March. But, the statement added Harry will come to visit the Queen "soon".

The Queen has finally returned to face-to-face engagements as she met the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, 50.The 95 year old monarch had been avoiding all in-person plans on her royal schedule due to an extended bout of COVID-19. Aides and medics did their best to help the Queen isolate, as she continued to present with "mild symptoms" of Covid, and she hosted a number of official figures via Zoom and video link.
