Michaela Zee editor Andy Garcia, Regina Hall, Tony Hale and Lisa Ann Walter are among the stars being honored at this year’s San Diego International Film Festival. In its 21st year, SDIFF will include the return of the Opening Night Film Premiere, the Night of the Stars Tribute and Culinary Cinema. The festival has also announced new additions to this year’s lineup, including the drama “She Said,” with Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan, and “The Inspection,” starring Jeremy Pope, Gabrielle Union and Bokeem Woodbine. Garcia will receive the Gregory Peck Award, Hall will be presented the Virtuoso Award, Hale with the Fairbanks Award and Walter with the Virtuoso Award. As previously announced, Colson Baker (aka Machine Gun Kelly) will receive the Spotlight Award following the screening of his upcoming drama film “Good News” on Oct. 23.

Two McDonald’s sandwiches have now joined Drake among the legions of those absolutely ethered by Pusha T diss tracks. “Rib Roast,” a takedown of the beloved McRib sandwich that returns to the golden arches each fall, follows March’s “Spicy Fish Diss Track,” a screed against the Micky D’s Filet-O-Fish.
Each song has been a collaboration with Arby’s to promote a competing sandwich. The earlier cut touted the Arby’s Crispy Fish sandwich and today’s track is a tribute to the Country Style Arby’s Rib Sandwich.
Arby’s, it seems, has gambled on a spokesperson who “could sell water to a whale” (as Push reports on “Spicy Fish Diss Track”) to offset the originality deficit in its new sandwiches’ names. Push has never been one to give up a grudge or go easy on a nemesis, as evidenced by his life-altering 2018 scorcher “The Story of Adidon,” which exposed that Drake was “hiding” a six-month-old son from public view (not to mention its cover art, for which the Bronx rapper dug up a 2007 photo of his Canadian rival in blackface).
His hatred for McDonald’s seems to be fueled by his dissatisfaction with the deal he struck with the company in the early aughts for his “I’m Lovin’ It” jingle, which is still in use today. (The Arby’s check may have helped as well.) ‘Veneno’ Producer Buendia Estudios Making Series Version of Erotic Classic ‘La Pasion Turca’
Anna Marie de la Fuente In what is expected to be a surefire hit, Buendia Estudios revealed an upcoming TV series adaptation of Antonio Gala’s erotic novel, “La Pasion Turca.” The popular novel was last adapted into a hit feature film in 1994 with the late Vicente Aranda directing and Andres Vicente Gomez of Lolafilms producing. It starred singer-actress Ana Belen in what is considered her most successful film. Buendia Estudios’ director general Ignacio Corrales and editorial director Sonia Martínez jointly announced the new project at the 2nd edition of the Iberseries & Platino Industria television event in Madrid. The new six-episode series set to air on Spanish free-to-air channel Antena 3 and streamer AtresPlayer Premium will start shooting by the end of October in Turkey for seven weeks before moving to Madrid. The cast will be made up of Spanish, Turkish and Italian talent.
