James Caan earned his stripes in the entertainment industry decades ago, starring in one of the most iconic film franchises — "The Godfather."  He portrayed Sonny Corleone, the eldest son of mafia don Vito Corleone, played by Marlon Brando, who was known as much for his fiery temper as he was for his violent, bullet-ridden death scene in the classic 1972 Francis Ford Coppola movie. But Caan's work with Coppola, and in front of the camera, began years before.

Armie Hammer is not working as a hotel concierge in the Cayman Islands, never mind the mischievous flyer that attempted to show otherwise. A lawyer for the star told  that a flyer that went viral on Twitter earlier this week showing the embattled actor as an employee at Morritt's Resort in Grand Cayman is the result of employees at that hotel pulling off an elaborate prank. The bizarre episode came to light when a producer for Showtime's  shared the flyer in a since-deleted tweet that read, «My friend's parents went on vacation in the Cayman Islands and Armie Hammer was their concierge.»The flyer depicts Hammer looking off-camera and smiling, along with his first name and the extension number where he can be reached at the hotel should the guests want to book a «swimming with wild turtles» session or tips on where to go snorkeling.

The staffer, a 12-year employee, said that he sent the pamphlet to a few rooms as a prank.The Photoshopped leaflet noted: “I am your personal concierge and am here to help you get the very best from your vacation.” The paper also mentioned several discount vouchers available — and even suggested that Hammer, who is a frequent visitor of the tropical islands, can arrange excursions for guests that include “swimming with wild turtles,” snorkeling and diving outings, and “reasonable prices for bioluminescence and fishing trips.”Some employees who reportedly golf with the “Social Network” actor — who grew up visiting the Cayman Islands — apparently created the flyer as a joke.

Jacqueline Stewart has been named the new director and president of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, the museum announced on Wednesday. She succeeds Bill Kramer, who left that position to become the CEO of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on July 1.Since 2020, Stewart has been serving as the chief artistic and programming officer of the museum, which opened last year.

Neil Young has announced his plans to release ‘Noise & Flowers’, a live album and film compiled from material recorded during his most recent tour of Europe and the UK.Young embarked on the nine-date run with Promise Of The Real as his backing band, taking in four shows in Germany – as well as one each in Denmark, Belgium, the Netherlands, England and Ireland – across July of 2019. The album and film will feature recordings from all of the shows; the CD and two-disc vinyl release will sport 14 tracks, but it’s unclear if the film (which was co-directed by Bernard Shakey and DH Lovelife) contains the same content.Both iterations of the release will land on August 5 via Warner Records, with pre-orders available here.

Academy CEO Bill Kramer that they have gathered majority worker support for a new union and asking for voluntary recognition.Three weeks ago, the new union Academy Museum Workers United went public with its intention to unionize with AFSCME Council 36, which represents unions in local government and private nonprofit groups. After the Academy released a statement saying it would move forward with a union election through the National Labor Relations Board, the AMWU filed its petition this past week for such an election, which if successful would give the Academy Museum’s 180 workers labor representation.

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music CriticEarth, Wind & Fire was alternately singing about the 12th of never and the 21st night of September, but it was all about the 19th evening of June as the veteran group proved an obvious audience favorite during “Juneteenth: A Global Celebration for Freedom,” a multi-artist, multi-genre show at the Hollywood Bowl  broadcast live on CNN Sunday to commemorate the national holiday.Held to celebrate the anniversary of Black emancipation in the U.S., the concert spanned almost as wide an array of musical and performance styles as could be packed into a single prime-time slot, from soul to classical to country to jazz. That breadth established, the lineup had a special emphasis on artists that ruled the R&B world of the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s, leading an emcee to joke to the sold-out audience about a time “before all those knee replacements out there.” Even with EWF, Chaka Khan and others getting the crowd on its feet, there may have been no greater eruption of joy during the three hours than the one that occurred during a short set by Bell Biv DeVoe.
