With their new titles of the Prince and Princess of Wales, Prince William and Kate Middleton are set to embark on a series of public engagements in coming months. The couple, who recently completed their first engagement since the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, are set to head to America shortly before Christmas as part of the Earthshot Prize.
Created by 40 year old William, the Earthshot Prize was launched back in 2020 and aims to celebrate initiatives across the globe that are positively impacting the environment. After the first ceremony was held in London last year, the event is set to head to Boston in Massachusetts for the second official event on 2 December.
Addressing the Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit in New York City via video link on Wednesday, the Prince of Wales expressed his excitement and also revealed his beloved grandmother’s appreciation for the cause. “During this time of grief, I take great comfort in your continued enthusiasm, optimism and commitment to the Earthshot Prize and what we are trying to achieve,” he said.
“Protecting the environment was a cause close to my grandmother's heart, and I know she would have been delighted to hear about this event and the support you're all giving our Earthshot finalists, the next generation of environmental pioneers.” The royal also added that he and 40 year old Kate “are so excited to be coming to Boston in December” and that they looked forward to meeting all those involved.
