Prince Harry reportedly found out his grandfather Prince Philip died just one hour before the news was broken to the British public.The Duke of Edinburgh passed away at Windsor Castle on 9 April, while his grandson Harry and pregnant wife Meghan Markle were asleep in California, USA. Officials at the US Embassy made several attempts to contact Harry while he was sound asleep at 3am, it's been claimed.

It was in the wee hours of the morning of April 9, when Prince Harry was quite literally woken up to be informed about his beloved grandfather Prince Philip's death at the age of 99. Harry, along with his pregnant wife Meghan Markle and their son Archie, 2, are currently residing in Montecito, Santa Barbara in Los Angeles, which is 8 time zones behind Windsor Castle in London.According to TMZ, law enforcement sources disclosed how Harry was made aware of the family tragedy.

Police were called to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Montecito home after the US Embassy were unable to get hold of him to tell him his grandfather Prince Philip had died. Prince Philip sadly died at the age of 99 in April, with 36 year old Harry returning to the UK to attend his funeral.
