Drinks breaks are normally called when temperatures reach 30C at pitch level and take place halfway through each half at a suitable moment, such as when the ball is out of play. Due to the heat at the London Stadium on Sunday, City players were given a drinks break midway through each 45-minute period.
All Premier League and EFL fixtures will have drinks breaks as the heatwave continues in the UK. Some areas in England will reach 37C this weekend for the second round of matches in the top flight.
