A registered sex offender’s appearance at the just-ended Portland "Red House on Mississippi" eviction blockade appears to have left some activists uncomfortable. The controversy surrounded Micah Rhodes, 27, who was a leader of the protest group Portland’s Resistance that rose to prominence after Donald Trump's election in 2016.

A “serial stalker” who allegedly terrorized a Portland neighborhood is believed to have been found following a community-led effort after residents said police were slow to respond to calls for help, if they answered them at all, according to a podcast that aired Monday.

An activist group that organized an eviction blockade in Portland said Sunday the family who previously owned the so-called Red House, on Mississippi Ave., has reached an agreement with Mayor Ted Wheeler, and the heavily fortified barriers preventing access to the neighborhood would come down.

The Portland family at the center of the “Red House” controversy reportedly has a second home located only 2 miles away, according to property records. The house, located on Mississippi Avenue and owned by the Kinney family since the 1950s, has been the focus of protests after the family was evicted following a protracted legal battle over foreclosure.

The police chief in Portland, Ore.,  wants demonstrators attempting to block the eviction of a Black and Indigenous family to put down their weapons and leave the barricade so that the standoff with officers can end and the neighborhood can return to peace and order. “We are aware of the stockpile of weapons, and the presence of firearms,"  Chief Chuck Lovell said in a prepared statement. "We are aware of the threats to the community, to media, to police.

The Portland police chief said Wednesday that he remained "greatly concerned" about an area occupied by demonstrators attempting to block the eviction of a Black and Indigenous family, explaining that individuals have stockpiled weapons, assigned armed guards and spray-painted threats to kill police officers at the so-called Red House on Mississipi Avenue.  “We want a peaceful & safe resolution to the occupation of public space on N Mississippi Ave,” Chief Chuck Lovell said on Twitter Wednesday.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Protesters outraged with the arrests of seven people at a home where a family was evicted in September hurled rocks at officers, sprayed a fire extinguisher at them and damaged police vehicles on Tuesday. The violence happened in broad daylight.

A house in Portland this past weekend was riddled with at least 50 bullets in a shooting that remains under police investigation. Investigators said they found 83 shell casings scattered across the scene outside.

Three people were arrested in Portland after police say they caused “thousands” of dollars worth of damage vandalizing at least 10 businesses in the wee hours of Thanksgiving Day, police said.
