Perthshire ’s community-run radio station has done so well in recent industry awards that it will get a pat on the back in the Westminster Parliament.
Perth and North Perthshire MP Pete Wishart was so delighted that the 30-year-old Highland Perthshire broadcasting team had been declared station of the year in the UK-wide Community Radio Awards 2022, that he promised to table an Early Day Motion to congratulate everyone in Pitlochry.
Heartland FM has won the Silver award for ‘Station of the Year’ for the second year in a row. Additionally, it was the only Scottish station to be nominated in this category.
“I have tabled an Early Day Motion to congratulate Heartland FM on winning the Silver award in the prestigious ‘Station of the Year’ category for the second year in a row at the 2022 Community Radio Awards,” said Pete Wishart.
“This award is made even more special this year with Heartland FM celebrating its 30th anniversary, making it the longest running community-owned radio station in the UK.
“Heartland FM continues to provide an excellent radio service to residents in Highland Perthshire and I congratulate everyone involved in this fantastic achievement.”
Perthshire North MSP, John Swinney was also congratulating the triumphant station which is heard worldwide online and operates from Atholl Road in Pitlochry.
