Phoebe Bridgers appears in court to request dismissal of defamation lawsuit

Lawyers for Kesha have said that the court hearing for her long-running defamation legal battle with producer Dr Luke – currently scheduled for next February – can’t go ahead until the New York Court Of Appeal has ruled on some side disputes. And, they claim, Luke’s legal team are responsible for delays in the appeals court making it less likely that those matters will be addressed before next February.Luke’s defamation lawsuit against Kesha is all that remains of a long running dispute between the former collaborators, which began when Kesha accused Luke of rape.

Milena Zajović “Hotel Portofino,” starring Natascha McElhone, has returned to Croatia after a summer break to finish filming its second season. It is so far the biggest project filmed in Croatia this year, Film New Europe reports. The producers of the period drama, created by Matt Baker and directed by Adam Wimpenny, are making use of Croatia’s 25% cash rebate for the second year in a row. Sixty filming days are planned, according to the Croatian Audiovisual Center. Tanja Ladović Blažević, head of Filming in Croatia, a department within the Croatian Audiovisual Center, told FNE: “We are especially proud to see an exceptional amount of Croatian professionals engaged in the project. There are 135 Croatian crew members, including 13 out of 14 heads of departments. In addition to that, more than 800 extras have been engaged in filming.”

The expansive course has become a convenient setting for several music festivals and cultural events, including This Ain’t No Picnic, which touched down in Pasadena this past weekend. The all-ages, family-friendly, two-day festival — named after the Minutemen song — boasted a bill that read like an NPR playlist. Phoebe Bridgers has branched her philanthropic efforts out to include the launch of her own taco, teaming up with LA restaurant HomeState to create ‘The Maxine’ in a fundraising effort for the city’s CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) wing.Named for Bridgers’ black pug – who is occasionally spotted at Bridgers’ shows, appeared onstage with her earlier this month, and made a cameo in her recent Seth Meyers interview – ‘The Maxine’ features black beans, shiitake mushrooms, avocado, caramelised onions and crispy corn strips inside a soft corn tortilla. The vegan taco will be available at all five of HomeState’s LA locations between now and November 22.“HomeState is one of my favorite local restaurants; Maxine and I should probably be cut off from their breakfast tacos by now,” Bridgers said in a statement announcing the collaboration.

Christopher Vourlias Croatian miniseries “The Last Socialist Artefact” was the big winner at the Heart of Sarajevo TV Awards, which were handed out Sunday night during the Sarajevo Film Festival.The six-part limited series, which is adapted from Robert Perišić’s novel “No-Signal Area,” tells the story of two urban transplants who take over an abandoned turbine factory for a mysterious client in a remote, economically depressed Balkan town. The show took home awards in five of the eight categories for drama series, including best series, best leading actor for Izudin Bajrović and best director for Dalibo Matanić.Created by Ankica Jurić Tilić and Dalibor Matanić, “The Last Socialist Artefact” is produced by Tilić for Zagreb-based Kinorama, in co-production with Serbia’s Sense Production, Slovenia’s Perfo Production and Finland’s Citizen Jane.

Phoebe Bridgers appeared in court yesterday (August 12) in an ongoing defamation lawsuit and the judge in the case appears to be leaning towards throwing the case out.The lawsuit was filed against Bridgers by the producer Chris Nelson last year. It came about following an October 2020 social media post in which Bridgers directed her followers on Instagram to a thread written by her friend Emily Bannon, which Nelson has claimed was defamatory.Nelson subsequently sued the singer for defamation and is currently seeking $3.8million (£2.8million) in damages.
